I started the Bigcommerce Journal to address the needs of the more complex e-commerce stores that have dual functionality for both Wholesale clients and regular Retail clients after consulting with a client who sold most of her products through wholesale accounts, but also needed a retail outlet for those customers who wanted to purchase her product manufacturer direct.
Bigcommerce was perfect for her because of the ease of use in the sales end for managing products, customers, and orders. It allows for multiple customer groups to be set-up allowing for many pricing levels. BigCommerce also has powerful, elegant yet simple template designs that creates a professional look to any online store.
What I've found after consulting with a few more clients is that although this is has such wonderful functionality, there isn't yet a way to allow for certain payment and shipping options to display for only certain customer groups. For those who utilize Bigcommerce as a landing point for both retail and wholesale accounts it's crucial to be able to allow for certain payment options like COD or Check to your wholesalers but not to every Tom, Dick and Jane out there. The same applies likewise to shipping options: you may want to have an option for the wholesale accounts to use their own shipping account, or their shipping costs may be calculated at the time of delivery. Most retail online shoppers don't need this option as they want to know how much their total purchase is at the time of purchase.
That's where I come in. I produce custom CSS and JavaScript to increase the already phenomenal functionality of Bigcommerce into something even better. I do offer all my 'generic' custom code for free on my blog, but I realize that there are those that don't have time to follow tutorials or would rather have a professional consultant take on the task.
If you would like a quote on custom code you feel free to contact me.
